OTLPA Hall of Fame

2009 Hall of Famer CAMILLE MEDINA

"The greatest woman to ever play the game!"

Camille Medina has 12 impressive OMBAC wins also from the 70s to today. What makes them so impressive is the fact that ALL of them are in women's Open, as well ! A few female players have totaled up a good total number of First Place wins, but have spread them around in all the divisions more to their age bracket also.

Camille has become the greatest woman to ever play the game, solely on the fact that she keeps winning in Open where everyone around her keeps getting younger and younger, as well!

She's a talented variety hitter, deep ball hitter and great team player. Now she has coached a daughter who is filling in her footsteps. In 2008 she played with her daughter and partner Stef, and they took another First Place win in OMBAC for Camille. In 2009, Camille did not play, but Stef, Stef's sister Martha, and her daughter Marisa took another OMBAC First Place home. She is continuing a family tradition, just like her mom did. Her mom Barbara and her sister Marla also are avid players.

Camille feels the women have come a long way since the early days...that the ladies are more respected for their athletic ability than the size of the bathing suit. She's always been a good role model and good example of sharing her experiences, strategies, philosophies to the younger players.

She tells us that she has a lot of memorable moments from her life long friends in the OTL family, but two that stand at the top of the list are when she played with her mom, Barb, and daughter years ago when Marisa was a mini-teeny-bopper and they won the "B" division in a local tourney. And the other is winning OMBAC in 2008 with Marisa and her partner, Stef.

When interviewing her, she told us this (so we must put this in becoz it's good stuff! lol.)..."My favorite OTL people are the tournament directors/staff. The patient individuals, who volunteer to run tournaments, get permits from the City, set up and take down, run the bracket board, announce, take pictures, etc. etc. They provide this venue for all of the players. We could not play or be where we are without them. Thank you to all of them."

Camille - no, thank YOU! And you are most welcome!
