OTLPA Hall of Fame

2011 Hall of Famer DeRon "Chop" Simon

"Visionary"

By Jeff Briggs

Chop was one of the most recognizable characters on the beach. From his unique signature "OTL" hair cuts and his one of a kind long sleeve collared shirt playing attire, to his always present laugh, Chop made an Over-The-Line tournament a better place to be. In addition, Chop was instrumental in the controversial, but always exciting, area of "Professional" Over-The-Line or "Pro Beach Softball".

Chop was the Editor of Over-The-Line Magazine, and fantastic historian of the game. His magazine held some of the best statistical data ever collected in the game of Over-The-Line. Anyone who knew Chop misses him, and his contributions to the game. On top of all of this, he had one of the best two-three games in OTL. Chop passed away at the young age of 42, in August 2008. His humor and comraderie is greatly missed.
