OTLPA Hall of Fame

2011 Hall of Famer WILLIE MATSON

"Squeeze 'Em"

by Jeff Briggs

He changed the way the position of back man was played.

Until Willie, the back men subscribed to the old little league theory of "it is easier to come in, than it is to go back" so the back men would play deep and try to run in.

Willie changed all that. He figured that most of the guys couldn't consistently hit the deep ball fair, and if they did he was fast enough to run most of those down.

When you are a 5-time OMBAC OTL world champion, played on arguably the most dominant team of all time and changed the way that the game is played…you are a no-doubt an OTLPA Hall of Famer.
