Hi there - In all of our efforts to move the Thanksgiving OTL tourney away from Mexico (at least for now)...we've found a possible new venue site for us. We're thinking of moving it to Stateline, NV where Terribles Herbst Casino is (next to Buffalo Bill's). Corky would get us a good deal on room rates at Terribles Herbst Casino, and there's a spot to play OTL nearby. We could play OTL during the day, and the casinos at night, and just plain have a lot of fun socializing with the comraderie of all our OTL pals. It would probably mean that most would have to drive there, as there are no real close airports (for a reference, it's approx. 4 hours from San Diego). It's another hour to Vegas. Please take a moment to answer these couple of questions to help us plan for the Amigo Bros Thanksgiving road-trip OTL tourney. Also, we need to know if there's enough interest to have it. We would like to do it a weekend where we would draw the largest crowd. We understand that many of you are obligated to go out of town on Thanksgiving weekend for other things. The 3rd question below refers to Saturday night. Please be honest. Thank you.
(Please note, some have suggested Laughlin, Yuma, Phoenix, or Prescott for possible sites. These are all good suggestions, and we've already checked into the Laughlin idea. You have to remember that we need to be able to play where they are not going to charge us to use the playing area, or permit fees, etc. Otherwise there would be ABSOLUTE NO MONEY for the winner's pot!)
WHAT TO DO THERE? Everything Vegas has as far as gambling, fun, and even some rides. Plus there's 3 or 4 other casinos within walking distance....and a roller coaster. Enough to do for a 2 day weekend, around OTL. OTL PLAYING COURTS WILL BE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE ALSO. IT'LL BE HARD-PACKED GROUND...aka GRAVEL-ish SAND. YOU'LL WANT CLEATS AND KNEE PADS POSSIBLY. IT WILL BE KIND OF LIKE PAST LAS VEGAS TOURNEY ON DIRT. NO SAND, NO GRASS.
